Red Dead Redemption 2 seems to have had its time in the sun and now it is time to make way for new games that are making top-spot sales figures around the world. Namely, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

According to the NPD report, while Red Dead Redemption 2 was the best-selling game of 2018 in the US, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate sold more copies of the game than it did in the biggest shopping month of the year.
In December, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 tried hard to beat the two but it failed and came in third in overall sales. Red Dead Redemption 2 was then knocked off its podium just a month after release by Super Smash Bros. Ultimate that managed to sell more than RDR2 during the festive season.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate not only sold more than Red Dead Redemption 2 but it also sold more than any other console exclusive in its launch month beating Halo 3 and even God of War.
Nintendo has a knack for making waves with their exclusives as many past best-selling games include Mario 64, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Mario Kart 64. We will have to see what 2019 holds for the company as they try to keep up with their past success of the Nintendo Switch.
