Supercell has announced a new roguelike action RPG game called “Project RISE” set to launch later this year on mobile devices. However, at the same time, the mobile developer has also confirmed that Clash Heroes, another project in development, has been cancelled…. well, sort of.
Supercell says Clash Heroes won’t make it out of development and similarly to Clash Quest and Clash Mini, has been cancelled. The studio says that this new roguelike action RPG Project RISE is actually a sort of rebranding of Clash Heroes instead.
Clash Heroes was originally planned as a single-player roguelike RPG but Supercell is rebranding it into a multiplayer game instead. The studio also says the game is not Clash Heroes but is very similar. It is set in the Clash universe and built from the ground up.
Supercell says that from a visual point of view, Project RISE has drawn a lot of inspiration from Clash Heroes. However, it focuses more on the social aspect and playing together with various players rather than doing PvE dungeons solo.
Project RISE will kick off a pre-alpha test this July where players can test out the social aspects and provide feedback to the team. You can sign up for these tests here.
We only hope that Project RISE actually makes it out of development and proves to be a success for Supercell. The studio is known for making games and deleting them a year later if they don’t meet their expectations. Clash Heroes marks the third game in the past three years that Supercell killed.
The studio is seemingly aware of its reputation too as the Project RISE trailer even pokes fun at the situation.
