Supermassive Announces The Quarry, Full Reveal Coming Today

Supermassive Games, the developers behind Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures Anthology, have revealed their new horror experience titled The Quarry. They also confirmed that 2K will publish the title, and a full reveal is set for later today.

The Quarry was previously leaked last month, but it looks like it has finally been confirmed. Supermassive Games released a short teaser pointing to a full reveal on 17 March, today at 6PM SAST / 4PM GMT / 9AM PT.

According to the game’s press blurb, The Quarry will be released in Summer 2022. Not much is actually known about the project, but it looks like Supermassive Games are dipping their feet into supernatural horror again.

The teaser shows police cars in the midst of a dark forest, with voice-over narration from someone who almost hit something that ran into the middle of the road. The camera then zooms in on what is presumably the main character, though their face is not unveiled yet.

Supermassive Games have a history of working with various publishers. Until Dawn was published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, while their Dark Pictures Anthology games are published by Bandai Namco. They’re now working with 2K to bring The Quarry to store shelves.

However, this isn’t the only game they’re currently working on. The studio filed trademarks earlier this year outing five more Dark Pictures games beyond this year’s The Devil In Me, which will all likely roll out annually over the next half decade. The Quarry is notable because it’s their first original standalone IP since Until Dawn, meaning it could be something quite different to what we’ve seen from them before.

The Quarry will have its full reveal on 17 March, later today at 6PM SAST / 4PM GMT / 9AM PT. Check out the teaser below.
