Thanks to the unprecedented success of Palworld, it seems like survival games are taking off in the mainstream (again). One new survival RPG game titled Enshrouded is getting a lot of buzz online. After recently releasing in early access, the game apparently hit 1 million players in just four days.
“We are completely blown away by its success and the overwhelmingly positive reception,” said Enshrouded developer Keen Games which shared the positive news online. “From the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank all our players. We’re excited to let you know that this is just the beginning for Enshrouded.”
Keen Games later added:
“We are back to work this week and working tirelessly on the next update. We would like to thank those of you who have sent suggestions and feedback, as well as those who have reached out to share issues they’ve encountered. There [are] a lot of you but this is the start of something we want to make truly special, and thanks to your support, we’re well on our way to make it happen with Enshrouded.”
At face value, Enshrouded doesn’t seem to be any different to your typical survival RPG. Players have to survive harsh conditions by crafting, gathering resources, building bases and employing NPCs to help out with their heavy workload. However, things get interesting with “The Shroud”, areas covered entirely by fog that houses some hostile, nightmarish monsters. The good news is that valuable loot and chests can be found in the Shroud but the longer you stay in it, the quicker you die.
It’s a fairly simple concept that has managed to grab the attention of at least a million players. On that note, Palworld is still going strong despite being hit with plagiarism accusations and an on-brand reaction from PETA which doesn’t want players to eat their Pals. This is also a game where you can give your Pals machine guns.
Enshrouded is now available in early access on PC via Steam. It’s expected to launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S later this year.
