Switch 2 Reportedly Getting Assassin’s Creed Shadows Port at Launch

Assassin’s Creed Shadows alongside a number of other Assassin’s Creed games are expected to land on the new Nintendo console at launch.

According to multiple sources, Ubisoft is currently porting over Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Odyssey, Valhalla and Origins. All these games are gearing up to release at the same time as the new Nintendo console. In addition, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which is expected to launch in November for existing hardware, will also be released on the Switch 2.

At the moment, the reports claim that Ubisoft is aiming to launch the entire Assasin’s Creed library during the “release window” of Nintendo’s new console. The current Switch can’t handle any of the newer Assassin’s Creed games given its dated hardware. The only way to play Odyssey is through a cloud port but the game is available in Japan only. However, the new console will likely be the best place for the series.

We don’t know when the Switch 2 is expected to launch. Reports claim Nintendo will announce it by the end of 2024 and release it in early 2025. Some rumours claim that Nintendo might actually aim to launch it this Holiday season. At the moment it is all just a waiting game.

Nintendo reportedly delayed the Switch 2 launch from early 2024 into 2025 to get the hardware’s launch library in order. The company wanted to have the strongest launch lineup of any Nintendo hardware to date. As a result, it was delayed.

We don’t know exactly what games Nintendo plans to have ready for the console’s launch. Rumours claim it will include multiple ports from the current Switch alongside dozens of third-party games like Assassin’s Creed. However, as for “new” games from Nintendo, we don’t know yet.
