Switch Takes Eight Out of Ten Slots in UK Top 10 Game Sales For July so Far

Nintendo has continued to dominate the UK game charts by occupying eight of the ten games in the top 10 sales for June. Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD debuted at number 3 last month and other various Nintendo Switch games have reentered the charts.

Hogwarts Legacy still remains in the number 1 spot but the majority of the game sales come from the Nintendo Switch version. It takes up 41% of all Hogwarts Legacy sales in June. EA Sports FC 24 also has a similar situation with 34% of all sales attributed to the Switch version.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe still remains in the top ten at number four, Super Mario Bros. Wonder is sticking to its with position and Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is at the tenth spot. The current UK boxed game sales sit as follows. Switch games are in bold.

  1. Hogwarts Legacy
  2. EA Sports FC 24
  3. Luigi’s Mansion 2
  4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  5. Minecraft
  6. Grand Theft Auto V
  7. Elden Ring
  8. Super Mario Bros. Wonder
  9. It Takes Two
  10. Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

Of course, Nintendo has always had a stronger physical game audience than PlayStation and Xbox so this is expected. Not only do Nintendo fans prefer physical games over digital ones, the resell rate is much higher for Nintendo titles which makes buying them an investment.

With the July video game lineup looking rather lacklustre, Nintendo might continue to dominate the charts as the month goes on. The company has also made sure that every month for the remainder of 2024, there’s a big Switch game launch planned. So there’s no slowing them down anytime soon.
