Sony’s new PlayStation Plus service is expected to come with a range of new classic games that span the PS1, PS2 and PSP eras. However, it seems that these classic games might actually offer more than just a simple playthrough as Sony Bend has confirmed trophy support for the classic Syphon Filter game.
While it is still too early to tell whether or not other classic PlayStation games will also get trophy support at launch, this is a good sign that Sony might be implementing trophies into these classic games.

The official Sony Bend Twitter account announced the news saying that Syphon Filter will include trophies when it arrives on PlayStation Plus. The studio then shared a video clip of the trophy “An Explosive Start” popping up. It followed up with confirmation of a platinum trophy too called “Excellent work, Agent”.

This is great news for gamers who are looking forward to returning to older games on the service. Sony did announce a large lineup of games headed to the all-new PlayStation Plus next month and many of them are classic titles. This includes the likes of Ape Escape, Jumping Flash, Everybody’s Golf and more. While the company has yet to confirm trophy support for all these titles, the announcement of the Syphon Filter trophy support is definitely a sign of things to come.
Sony plans on rolling out the all-new PlayStation Plus at the end of May in Asia markets with a 23 June release date in South Africa. It will cost you anywhere between R119 to R209 per month depending on the package you decide to go with.
