Rockstar Games parent company and publisher Take-Two Interactive says it’s “not really worried” about Grand Theft Auto 6 on Xbox Series S. The highly anticipated sequel is set to launch in fall 2025 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, aiming to push boundaries on a technical level. However, the Xbox Series S is a lower-spec console compared to the Series X, though Take-Two seems confident that it will manage to get GTA 6 running on the less powerful hardware.
During Take-Two Interactive’s latest earnings call, CEO Strauss Zelnick was asked about the Xbox Series S and whether it could keep up with the boundary-pushing ambitions of GTA 6. Zelnick gave a measured reply, stating that the publisher plans to support all the platforms “where the consumers are.” He also believes that Rockstar Games has a good technical team that can get the game running on Xbox Series S, so he’s not too worried about it.
Zelnick’s full reply states:
“Look, we support the platforms where the consumers are for as long as they’re there, and we find a way to support platforms despite different levels of tech. Our labels are really good at that. I’m not really worried. If one platform diminishes in value, there’s always another one. So we’re seeing great growth in PC right now, for example.”
When pressed about a PC version of GTA 6 – which isn’t on the list of platforms that the game will launch on – Zelnick reiterated that supporting PC “isn’t complicated for us.” He goes on to state, “The bottom line is we are selective about which platforms we support. We make the tech work when we can make it work as long as the audience is big enough to make that worthwhile.”
A PC port of GTA 6 will likely launch at a later date after it releases on consoles first. This has been a normal practice with most Rockstar titles including GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2, which both received PC ports well after release.
Take-Two Interactive announced in the same earnings call that GTA 6 was still on track to arrive in fall 2025, pinning its release window between September and December next year.
