Project Bloom Game Freak Private Division

Take-Two Selling Private Division to Undisclosed Buyer

Take-Two has announced its plans to sell off the indie games label Private Division. The division is responsible for games such as The Outer Worlds and Kerbal Space Program 2.

Take-Two has not commented on who will be buying Private Division. The company has not revealed the total cost of the sale either. A statement was released confirming the sale and plans for certain titles going ahead. Take-Two says most of the IPs under the label are included in the sale. This includes the upcoming unreleased project from Game Freak called Project Bloom and The Lord of the Rings’ cosy game, Tales of the Shire.

Take-Two is retaining the rights to No Rest for the Wicked. The game launched earlier this year into early access. It was one of the more successful titles under the label in recent years.

We recently made the strategic decision to sell our Private Division label to focus our resources on growing our core and mobile businesses for the long-term. As part of this transaction, the buyer purchased our rights to substantially all of Private Division’s live and unreleased titles. Take-Two will continue to support No Rest for the Wicked, which launched in Early Access on PC in April. We are grateful for the contributions that the Private Division team has made to our company and are confident that they will continue to achieve success in their new home.

Private Division hasn’t been doing well in terms of game releases. After Hades, the label had a number of mediocre releases. This includes Disintegration, Rollerdrome, Kerbal Space Program 2, After Us and OlliOlli World.

The upcoming fantasy game called Eternal Strands will now also be self-published by Yellow Brick Games. Private Division aided in the game’s development funding.
