Actress Tati Gabrielle, best known for The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and the live-action Uncharted movie, has reportedly been tapped to play Jade in Mortal Kombat 2. The first movie released in 2021 to a mixed reception but it made just enough money at the box office to seemingly move ahead with a sequel.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gabrielle is finalising her role with director Simon McQuiod to play Jade in the upcoming Mortal Kombat 2 movie. A lifelong friend/personal bodyguard of Kitana doubling as an assassin for Shao Khan, Jade has appeared in several Mortal Kombat video games and is a relatively popular character with fans. Gabrielle is a good actress and seems to fit the role well.

You might’ve seen Tati Gabrielle in movies and TV shows like The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Uncharted, The 100 or You. The actress also recently made an appearance at Comic Con Cape Town.
If the deal is finalised, Gabrielle might appear alongside Karl Urban in Mortal Kombat 2 who is also in talks to play another familiar character from the games: Johnny Cage.
As of writing, Mortal Kombat 2 is still in the casting phase and no plot synopsis has been revealed yet. McQuiod is returning to direct the sequel with the rest of the cast also presumably coming back. The sequel will continue where the first movie left off as Cole Young heads off to Hollywood in order to recruit Johnny Cage for the lethal tournament against Outworld. Meanwhile, Sub-Zero/Bi Han will probably return as Noob Saibot to finish his fated fight against Scorpion, though that’s just speculation on our part.
In related news, NetherRealm Studios officially announced Mortal Kombat 1, the next game in the franchise which is scheduled to launch on 19 September 2023 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC and Nintendo Switch.
