The character select screen for Tekken 8, the anticipated upcoming fighting game from Bandai Namco, has seemingly leaked online. While the game doesn’t have a concrete release date yet, the marketing has been drip-feeding new character trailers over the past few months at a steady rate. No one can say for certain how large the initial character roster will be (excluding DLC), though the leaked image of the select screen doesn’t give us a clear answer either.
The leaked Tekken 8 character select screen first appeared on a recent Reddit post, apparently taken on a PS5. It’s not known how this image surfaced but some speculate that it was taken during an event, judging by the controller setup and banner above the screen. Unfortunately, the character select screen here only shows 10 fighters, all of which were previously announced in gameplay trailers, and doesn’t include any new fighters revealed beyond King.

Fans suggested that this leaked image was part of an early build of Tekken 8 that limited the characters to just 10, perhaps for press or a hands-on demo for professional players. Tekken director Katsuhiro Harada previously stated that Tekken 8‘s initial roster would feature more fighters than Street Fighter 6, which will launch with 18 fighters. Theories range from 25-30 characters being available during Tekken 8‘s launch which is par for the course.
The image above, which shows Tekken 8‘s characters posing with a banner of their face behind them, could also change before the final release of the game so take this with a grain of salt for now.
In related news, Bandai Namco and Arika confirmed that Tekken 8 will feature crossplay across PlayStation, Xbox and PC platforms as well as rollback netcode, ensuring smoother online play.
Tekken 8 is currently in development for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
