Tekken 8 Demo Now Out on PS5 – New Story Trailer Released

Bandai Namco Entertainment has released a free demo for Tekken 8 which is available right now to download on PS5. Xbox Series X/S and PC players will receive the same demo next week on 21 December. The demo clocks in at around 23 GB and contains a handful of modes and characters to try out. A new story trailer was also released alongside the demo’s arrival.

Players jumping into the Tekken 8 demo will get to play with four characters: Jin, Kazuya, Nina and Paul. Bandai Namco says that a total of 32 characters and much more content will be available in the full release. Additionally, players can also try out Player vs Player in local multiplayer, Player vs CPU, the Arcade Quest mode which allows you to explore a virtual arcade as a chibi avatar and challenge other players, and the explosive opening chapter of the Story Mode, which is utterly bonkers in the best way.

While it’s available to download right now on PS5, it will only be coming to Xbox Series X/S and PC next week. The reception from PS5 players has been pretty positive so far with many praising its tighter gameplay, great accessibility options, dazzling visuals and the Story Mode which kicks off a long-awaited confrontation between Jin and his father, Kazuya. There’s plenty of mystery also set up in this opening which Tekken fans will absolutely appreciate.

Additionally, Bandai Namco also released a new story trailer for Tekken 8 which gives us a taste of Jin’s journey of redemption, his conflict with Kazuya who has taken the stage as the central villain and the new King of Iron Fist Tournament that threatens to change the world forever.

Bandai Namco previously stated that it wanted the story of Tekken 8 to be much bigger than Tekken 7. So far, the company is living up to its promise, though we’ll have to wait until the full release on 26 January to find out how the rest of the narrative plays out.

Tekken 8 launches on 26 January 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Make sure you also check out the South African pre-order guide for the game including its various editions available to purchase right now. Check out the story trailer below:
