Tekken 8 Tekken Ball Mode Bandai Namco

Tekken 8 is Bringing Back Tekken Ball Mode

Bandai Namco has announced that Tekken 8, its anticipated upcoming fighting game, will see the return of the fan-favourite mini-game Tekken Ball mode. The character roster is already stacked with plenty of familiar fighters including the comeback of Raven and Jun Kazama, along with a new Peruvian character named Azucena. If you don’t plan on throwing fists at your opponents, you’ll be able to challenge them in a friendly game of volleyball instead.

A recent post on the Japanese PlayStation Blog revealed that Tekken Ball mode will be coming back for Tekken 8. This time, the mode is described as “even more crazy and ridiculous” with the ball apparently behaving in “mysterious ways.” The post also notes that Tekken Ball will be located in the game’s beach area but it won’t be part of the upcoming closed beta test.

For those who may not know, Tekken Ball is a mini-game first introduced in Tekken 3. The objective is to bounce a beach ball between each other without it touching the ground, while also trying to defeat the other player. It’s a refreshing, less serious change of pace from the heavy main story and shows that the series is capable of having a laugh once in a while without compromising the fun factor of the franchise.

In other news, Bandai Namco recently announced that it will host a closed beta test next month via a new gameplay trailer for Feng Wei. The publisher also says that the story mode will be much bigger than Tekken 7 as it continues the heated feud between father and son Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama.

Tekken 8 officially launches on 26 January 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Make sure you also check out our South African pre-order guide with the game’s various editions including the awesome collector’s edition featuring a statue of Jin.
