Tekken 8 Bandai Namco First French Fighter Victor Chevalier

Tekken 8 Reveals First French Fighter, Victor Chevalier

Bandai Namco has revealed a brand new fighter joining the roster of its upcoming fighting game, Tekken 8. Victor Chevalier will be the franchise’s first French fighter and a new addition to the ever-expanding cast of characters in the Tekken universe. Victor will be available as part of the starting roster in Tekken 8 at launch.

Judging by the gameplay trailer, Victor Chevalier’s moveset is fast, deadly and precise, using a combination of tools such as knives, blades, guns and a futuristic katana to balance his melee combos. We rarely get fighters in the Tekken series that are capable of using melee weapons as their bread and butter (with some exceptions being Yoshimitsu, Kunimitsu or Noctis, among others) so Victor’s stylish weapon-based moves are welcomed.

Tekken 8 game director Katsuhiro Harada gave a brief breakdown of Victor, stating:

“Victor is actually the first French fighter for the TEKKEN franchise. I have had the idea of a French character in my mind for a long time and it finally came to fruition. Thanks to Vincent Cassel for inspiring me and for voicing him. And the stage is Paris itself, where I took my first Seine River cruise over 20 years ago.”

Popular French actor Vincent Cassel, best known for movies such as Black Swan, Underwater and the Ocean’s trilogy, will voice Victor in the game.

In other news, Bandai Namco recently revealed a handful of fighters that will be joining Tekken 8 including Alisa Bosconovich, Panda, Zafina, Devil Jin and Lee Chaolan. Apart from the usual story and arcade modes, Tekken 8 will also have sides modes including Arcade Quest and the long-awaited return of Tekken Ball.

Tekken 8 launches on 26 January 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Make sure you check out the game’s various editions through our handy South African pre-order guide. Watch the latest gameplay trailer for Victor Chevalier below:
