Following mass layoffs in September 2018, Telltale Games was officially shut down and the company was being liquidated, having to sell off their assets. Telltale Games produced some great adventure titles from The Walking Dead to The Wolf Among Us. Now, it looks like Telltale Games is being revived thanks to an LCG Entertainment acquisition of some of its assets.

This acquisition of assets means that LCG Entertainment will work on new games associated with Telltale Games, sell off some of the catalogues and even acquire new licences. For fans of The Walking Dead, there is some bad news, as that license, as well as Stranger Things isn’t part of the deal, as The Walking Dead is owned by Skybound while Stranger Things is owned by Netflix.
Some licences, such as Borderlands, were not discussed. However, The Wolf Among Us is one of the IPs purchased, alongside Batman and Puzzle Agent. The new Telltale Games will be run by Jamie Ottilie and Brian Waddle. In an interview with Polygon, Jamie Ottilie explained;

I like games that tell stories and I think our industry should have a company that specializes in narrative-driven games.[/perfectpullquote]
For starters, don’t expect new Telltale Games anytime soon. On the topic of the episodic format Telltale is known for, Jamie Ottilie said that:

This is a different world, from a media consumption standpoint. We need to look at how people like to entertain themselves. I like the idea of binge-watching.[/perfectpullquote]
