Acer is bringing three new gaming monitors to the market in the first half of 2021. Each device boasts some impressive new eye care technology which the company claims help emit less high-energy blue light than other industry-standard monitors. But the big news here is the new Acer Nitro XV282K KV which is fully embracing the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S by offering some fantastic features for the consoles. While the Predator XB23 and XB32 sound great on paper too, for those looking at a VRR 120Hz experience on the newer consoles, the Nitro XV could be the answer.

Acer claims the Acer Nitro XV282K KV supports a range of features that users will look for when purchasing a monitor for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. In addition, it also packs some great PC features which make the display versatile for all platforms.
For starters, the 28-inch display includes a 4K UHD (3840 x 2160), 144HZ IPS panel with a 100,000,000:1 contrast ratio. For PC players, the Acer Nitro XV282K KV packs AMD FreeSync with a 1ms response rate. For console owners, they can enjoy HDMI 2.1 features thanks to the inclusion of the “new-ish” port. The Acer Nitro XV282K KV includes 4K UHD at 120Hz with VRR (Variable Refresh Rate).
This means, if you have a PS5 or Xbox Series X/S, you can enjoy 4K 120Hz gaming by using the HDMI 2.1 port. Keep in mind that the PS5 has not received its VRR update yet but given the display’s May 2021 release window, perhaps Sony might deliver the feature soon.
PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC owners can also benefit from the displays HDR 400 rating which means the display is capable of high dynamic range. Although, keep in mind that the brightness won’t be able to deliver the same quality level as a television. Speaking of which, the display also includes the Acer VisionCare 3.0 which helps reduce eye strain during gaming, work, design and more.
Acer says that the Acer Nitro XV282K KV is going on sale in China next month and will release in the United States in May for $899. We don’t know when South Africa will get the display and how much it is going to cost us.
Along with the Acer Nitro XV282K KV, Acer announced two new Predator displays too. Both include the Acer VisionCare 3.0 along with other features. The Predator XB273U boasts a 275Hz display. Check out the spec list below
