Amazon has launched its new Beyond landing page dedicated to all things video games. The web page is meant to deliver an in-store feeling of going to your local retailer to purchase games and accessories. It is delivered in a 3D render and you can rotate the camera around and walk to different spots in the room.
Every game poster and box on display is then clickable. Once selected, a pop-up appears that shows off the boxart, screenshots, pricing and reviews. Here you’ll then be able to purchase the game or back out of the view to select another one.
The Amazon Beyond room also includes a number of accessories and consoles including a PS5, Xbox Series X and Switch OLED. There’s also a gaming table and some arcade machines. All of which are purchasable by just clicking on them.
The 3D room is obviously customizable on Amazon’s end. The company will change posters and add new games as the weeks go by. You can also expect new hardware and accessories to be added over time. At the moment, it seems a bit watered-down.

Of course, this Amazon Beyond experience is only available on the US version of the platform at this time. You can, however, purchase games from the store and have them shipped to South Africa. But you’ll pay a bit more for them so maybe don’t.
Amazon did launch in South Africa back in May but so far, it has been quite an abysmal experience. The store lacks products and decent deals. There’s also no Amazon Prime. Considering how bad Amazon South Africa is, I highly doubt we’ll get this cool Amazon Beyond store anytime soon.
You can visit the page to experience it yourself here. Will it replace an actual video game store? Don’t think so.
