The fifth and final season of Amazon’s hit TV series The Boys has cast actors Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins. Next to Jensen Ackles, who plays Soldier Boy on the show, the trio starred as the three leads in the hugely popular CW series Supernatural, meaning season 5 of The Boys will be a Supernatural reunion of sorts. Amazon also confirmed that Ackles will return as Soldier Boy in season 5.
A new video posted by The Boys‘ social media account shows Jensen Ackles telling Jared Padalecki that they’ve got work to do, who then tells Misha Collins before the logo for The Boys is revealed. In the background of Padalecki’s video, you can clearly see Baby, the iconic 1967 Chevy Impala that the Winchesters drive in Supernatural, with its boot open.
This casting is no fluke as Eric Kripke, the showrunner for The Boys, was also the showrunner behind the first five seasons of Supernatural (arguably the best run of the entire show). Despite many feeling like Supernatural‘s best days were in those first five seasons, the show ultimately ran for 15 seasons due to its massive fan base. Misha Collins, who played the angel Castiel on the show, became a series regular after season 6.

Details for the final season of The Boys are scarce but now we know that Soldier Boy, who headlined season 3 but was absent from season 4, will make a return. There are a lot of theories about who Padalecki and Collins could be playing, though the popular (and somewhat ironic) choice would be for Padalecki to play Soldier Boy II from the comics.
Season 5 of The Boys is expected to arrive in 2026, while the second season of its spin-off series Gen V airs this year.
