Eric Kripke, the showrunner of The Boys, has announced that season 5 of the hit superhero television series will be the final season. The news arrives just a day before the premiere of season 4, which will likely set up the “gory, epic, moist climax” ahead.
Eric Kripke posted the news yesterday on Twitter/X confirming that season 5 of The Boys will be its last. He also posted an image of the script with plenty of redacted lines as to not spoil the upcoming season. “Season 5 will be the Final Season!” said Kripke. “Always my plan, I just had to be cagey till I got the final OK from Vought.”
The showrunner was quoted in a few interviews earlier this month stating that The Boys might not end with the fifth season. Kripke was also the showrunner for Supernatural, which was initially planned to run for only five seasons too but high fan demand caused the show run for another ten years for a staggering total of 15 seasons. Interestingly, Supernatural also starred Jensen Ackles who plays Soldier Boy in The Boys as well as Jeffrey Dean Morgan who is set to have a role in season 4.

There’s a good chance that The Boys could continue indirectly through the spin-off show, Gen V. Kripke was quite vocal about making spin-offs in modern times, previously criticising Marvel for inflating its lineup of movies and shows that made watching everything feel like “homework.”
The Boys season 4 premieres tomorrow on Amazon Prime Video.
