The Callisto Protocol 12-14 Hours Long Alternate Routes

The Callisto Protocol is 12-14 Hours Long with Alternate Routes

The Callisto Protocol, the upcoming survival horror game from developer Striking Distance Studios and publisher KRAFTON, will apparently take players around 12-14 hours to beat. The news comes from the studio’s founder Glen Schofield, whose previous credits includes creating the Dead Space franchise at Visceral Games. Additionally, players will have access to alternate routes to reach the game’s end.

As reported by MP1st via Edge, Schofield seemingly confirmed that The Callisto Protocol will take players roughly 12-14 hours to complete. This is the perfect length for the type of horror game that it’s being marketed as, so it means we’re not looking at an overly lengthy slog through nightmarish space encounters.

Schofield also talked about something called “beta paths” that players will be able to take in The Callisto Protocol. These are alternate routes that reach the end. How players go about getting to that end will be up to them as it sounds like there will be some scenarios involving branching paths and choices. Striking Distance Studios hopes this will create more unique experiences for players as everyone will get to talk about their specific playthroughs and where it diverged.

The Callisto Protocol‘s Steam page describes the game:

“In this narrative-driven, third-person survival horror game set 300 years in the future, the player will take on the role of Jacob Lee – a victim of fate thrown into Black Iron Prison, a maximum-security penitentiary located on Jupiter’s moon, Callisto. When inmates begin to transform into monstrous creatures, the prison is thrown into chaos. To survive, Jacob must battle his way to safety to escape Black Iron Prison, while uncovering the dark and disturbing secrets buried beneath the surface of Callisto. Using a unique blend of shooting and close-quarters combat, Jacob will need to adapt his tactics to combat the rapidly evolving creatures while scavenging to unlock new weapons, gear, and abilities to outrun the growing threat and escape the horrors of Jupiter’s Dead Moon.”

The Callisto Protocol launches on 2 December 2022 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
