The Callisto Protocol Review Embargo Drops on Launch Day

You’ve been warned. The Callisto Protocol reviews are set to go live on launch day which isn’t a great sign. According to media outlet GamePro, the embargo drops on 2 December at 06:00 am CEST/ 1 December at 21:00 PST. That’s 6 am South African time on launch day.

The Callisto Protocol is one of the last big game launches of 2022. It is set to launch on 2 December for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC. The game is set 300 years into the future and follows Jacob Lee who is thrown into Black Iron Prison on Jupiter’s Moon, Callisto. Inmates at the prison begin to transform into mutated creatures and the prison is thrown into chaos.

Jacob now needs to survive the prison, uncover the secrets that might have caused these mutations and hopefully, escape. He is equipped with cool-looking weapons and can use the environment around him to destroy these deadly mutated beings.

Sadly, The Callisto Protocol review embargo isn’t a good sign for the game. Usually, a launch-day review embargo spells bad news for pre-order gamers as they often don’t get a chance to cancel their pre-order in time if the reviews are bad. We saw this last week with Evil West. The game also had a launch-day embargo seeing reviews go live at 20:00 just a few hours before it was available in the country. It was already available in other regions.

I am not saying The Callisto Protocol is going to be bad, but use this review embargo as a cautionary warning to keep an eye out for the scores when they drop later this week. Unfortunately, I won’t be reviewing the game for GLITCHED. The Callisto Protocol’s physical launch was cancelled in South Africa which means we won’t get review codes for the game either. I do plan on picking it up at launch if the reviews are decent.
