According to new job listings at developer The Coalition, development on the next Gears of War game is currently underway. The studio is hiring for new talented developers to work on the next entry in the beloved Xbox franchise, which is believed to be Gears 6. We’ve heard no update regarding the next title in the series but it’s expected to be built in Unreal Engine 5.
As reported by Video Games Chronicle, an ad was recently posted by The Coalition seeking a senior gameplay designer to work on the Gears of War franchise, specifically the future of the IP. Most already suspect that this is for the next major Gears game but it could also be linked to an unannounced remaster or the rumoured Gears of War collection which is apparently still happening according to a report last month.

The full description of the job listing reads:
“The Coalition is a Microsoft first-party development studio located in Vancouver, Canada. We are the official home of the Gears of War franchise, and our objective is to forge the future of the IP and push the limits of Microsoft’s entertainment platforms and devices. Our team is comprised of deep creative and technical talent from across our industry and beyond, working cohesively to delight our fan base and pass expectations of what is possible.”
The Coalition is also looking for developers who are experienced in creating new gameplay features. We are searching for candidates with experience in Character, Camera and Controls (the 3 C’s), or artificial intelligence (AI) systems,” reads the ad. “You have experience owning large-scale features and guiding them from initial concept through to polish and completion.”
Judging by the sounds of the job ads, it seems like the game might still be deep in development so we probably shouldn’t expect an announcement anytime soon unless it’s a CG trailer confirming the game is being worked on.
