The content comes almost a year since the original game’s release and while the main game was set in Washington D.C, the new expansion takes players back to the original game’s location. Players will head back to the big apple in The Division 2: Warlords of New York as they hunt down the returning antagonist Aaron Keener. The expansion also takes place in a new unexplored region of Lower Manhattan.
The expansion will be sold separately or together as a game bundle which includes the main game. New players can use a level boost item to boost their starter character to level 30 and head straight into the new content. Players will then take on missions in Lower Manhattan and come face to face with returning factions like the Cleaners and Rikers.
The Division 2: Warlords of New York will bring with it a level increase and a revamped gear system. Ubisoft is also putting a large emphasis on new players coming into the fold for the first time allowing them to jump into the expansion without having to catch up with their friends. Players can then head back to the old content to play it and grind for gear. The Division 2: Warlords of New York releases on 3 March 2020 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
