The Elder Scrolls 6 Announced Too Early Bethesda Todd Howard

The Elder Scrolls 6 Has Officially Entered Early Development

Bethesda has confirmed that it has entered early development on The Elder Scrolls 6 after it was previously listed as being in pre-production for several years. The company reiterated that its focus is currently on Starfield, though development on the next anticipated entry in The Elder Scrolls franchise has commenced. However, we shouldn’t expect to hear any news about the game for at least another few years.

Speaking to Vandal about the release of Starfield, Bethesda’s head of publishing Pete Hines gave fans a long-awaited update on the development of The Elder Scrolls 6. Hines confirmed that the follow-up to Skyrim is officially in early development, though the studio’s priorities are currently on Starfield and it will likely stay that way for years as Bethesda promises to keep supporting its sci-fi RPG.

When Hines was asked if fans will hear more about The Elder Scrolls 6 now that Starfield is complete, he responded:

“We have put all of our studio’s focus on making this game the best it can be. And yes, there are people working on The Elder Scrolls 6, but this is what the studio has focused on. So no, you are not going to hear soon about The Elder Scrolls 6. Starfield is our focus for now, and it’s going to remain our priority for a while before we talk about anything else.”

Hines was also asked whether The Elder Scrolls 6 was still in pre-production. “No. It’s in development, but it’s in early development,” said Hines.

A report from back in January 2022 claimed that The Elder Scrolls 6 was still in pre-production as Bethesda focused most of its efforts on Starfield. The timeline for when we can expect the next Elder Scrolls game to release is a bit hazy at the moment with conflicting estimates. It’s also unclear if Microsoft will make the game exclusive to Xbox like Starfield, though according to Sony, that’s a good possibility.
