When Bethesda announced The Elder Scrolls VI at this year’s E3, I almost fell off my chair. The only thing Bethesda showed was a short teaser trailer featuring a mountain range; which means we are left speculating where the game will take place. Now, Bethesda has trademarked the name Redfall and it might just be the title of The Elder Scrolls VI.
Keep in mind that this could also be the next expansion for The Elder Scrolls Online or another project entirely. However, there are some good reasons to believe that this might just be the real title for The Elder Scrolls VI.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Redfall
First up, Elder Scrolls lore buffs will know that there is no actual place, province or anything specifically called Redfall in Elder Scrolls lore. Since Daggerfall, the second Elder Scrolls, every game since has been named after a place or province, yes, even Oblivion in the form of the mystic plane.
That’s not a good point in favour of Redfall being the title for The Elder Scrolls VI, I know. However, here’s something that is: From the teaser trailer many have speculated that and with good reason that the game will take place in the province of Hammerfell, the home of the Redguards. Check out an extremely detailed explanation and possible proof that it is Hammerfell we see in the trailer from YouTuber CamelWorks.

Does Redfall mean the fall of the Redguards or their home?
Very likely, to say the least. During the events of Skyrim, Hammerfell was in a state of crisis due to a raging Civil War, all while fending off an invasion from the High Elves. Sure, they may have weathered the storm, but Hammerfell is still weak and a new enemy can surely crush them.
Even with some evidence pointing toward Redfall being the title of The Elder Scrolls VI, Bethesda has not officially announced it as such. Further, there is The Elder Scrolls Online to consider as well.
Lastly, we know that The Elder Scrolls VI is a very long way off, as it is coming after Starfield which is also a next-gen title anyway. It might be years before we see official confirmation of the name or anything more about The Elder Scrolls VI.
