Dota 2 fans got to watch some great esports action over the weekend as the ESL One Birmingham 2019 playoffs took place. Last night at roughly 11:00 South African time, we saw one team lift the trophy after an intense grand final that went the distance between Team Secret and Evil Geniuses.

Evil Geniuses blast through the upper bracket of the playoffs to get to the finals, beating TNC Predator 2-1 and PSG.LGD 2-0 and then patiently awaited their challengers to make their way through the lower bracket. Team Secret had arguably a tougher road, as they had to beat OG, TNC Predator, Gambit and PSG.LGD to get to the grand finals.
The final match of ESL One Birmingham 2019 didn’t disappoint at all as these two teams fought it out for the lion’s share of the $300,000 prize pool. Instead of spoiling the match for you completely, I’ve decided to do things a bit differently this time around and embed all five games below so those who couldn’t stay up late last night to watch the tournament can still feel that intensity while watching these fantastic games of Dota.

There is no doubt in my mind that the best team did win and apart from Game Three, I don’t think there were any draft wins. Now, it will be interesting to see if Valve decides to release any small balance update this week or if we will be getting any more Battle Pass updates before the final Minor of the current DPC season kicks off.
