The First Baldur’s Gate 3 Gameplay is Here and it Looks Awesome

Larian Studios today revealed the first gameplay for the upcoming Baldur’s Gate 3 at PAX East. The studio announced last week that this gameplay would mark the world debut for the upcoming highly-anticipated entry in the series and they did not hold back on the reveal at all. Larian Studios also announced the game would get an Early Access phase closer to launch which will be by the end of 2020. The Baldur’s Game 3 gameplay is the main focus in the latest video and shows off the character creation toolset including races and classes and goes into detail how users will be able to craft their own unique personality.

The gameplay then goes into detail on the game’s exploration, narrative options and how a player will be able to play the bad guy and even lose companions throughout the journey if they make different decisions or disagree with opinions. While the alignment system was not shown off much, the game will have a deep “friendship” system.

As for the combat, Baldur’s Gate 3 will feature the traditional turn-based combat system we have seen from past games. Players will coordinate on the battlefield as they control their party, move about the environment and make tactical decisions to best their foes. Anyone familiar with this playstyle will feel right at home in the game.

The rest of the demo shows off exploration and how players can move objects around and interact with the environment to get around. While the gameplay demo did present a few bugs, Larian Studios promises that the game will release on Early Access when these have been ironed out.

Along with the gameplay demo, the studio also released a fantastic CG opening cinematic that will leave you wanting more. It features some gorgeous scenes both explosive and gruesome. You can watch it down below;
