During Summer Game Fest, Nexon finally announced the release date for The First Descendant. All supported platforms will get the game on 2 July.
The First Descendant is a free-to-play looter shooter built on Unreal Engine 5. While Nexon has yet to share specific details on the launch plans, the game hosted its open beta back in September last year and it was widely popular. Since the beta, The First Descendant has received various updates and improvements. In addition, graphical updates and new content have been added.
The announcement was made within a brand-new cinematic trailer, created in the recently updated Unreal Engine 5, which featured major Descendants dropping into the fight, coming face-to-face with new foes and meeting some new allies along the way. The latest trailer not only highlights the thrilling action and cooperative gameplay that players can experience, but it reveals new characters and bosses that will be introduced at launch and through post-launch updates.
Nexon says it will share specifics on the launch soon. Given The First Descendant is a free-to-play game, we can likely expect Founder’s Editions and other packs available at launch.
I actually spent a lot of time playing the September beta and really enjoyed it. The game provided satisfying gunplay and a loot system with some interesting damage mechanics. I am looking forward to playing the game next month.
The First Descendant is launching on PS4, PS5 and PC on 2 July. Watch the trailer below.
