The Game Awards 2022 Nominations to be Announced on Monday

Nominations for The Game Awards 2022 will be announced on Monday, 14 November at 9AM PT / 12PM ET / 5PM GMT or 7PM CAT for South Africans. Fans will be able to tune into the livestream on a number of platforms, where we’ll find out which games will be wrestling for the biggest awards categories including Game of the Year.

Geoff Keighley will once again host the event, which has been ongoing since 2014. The Game Awards will return as a live, in-person event at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles on 8 December.

Most games will be fighting for the coveted Game of the Year win, which is only awarded to games that managed to stand out and deliver the best gaming experiences each year. With heavy-hitters like Elden Ring, God of War Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, Bayonetta 3 and many more critically acclaimed games to choose from, it’s going to be quite a competitive year. In case you’re wondering which games won Game of the Year at The Game Awards in the past:

  • 2014: Dragon Age Inquisition
  • 2015: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
  • 2016: Overwatch
  • 2017: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
  • 2018: God of War
  • 2019: Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
  • 2020: The Last of Us Part II
  • 2021: It Takes Two

Of course, there will be a number of other categories including Best Action Game, Best Role-Playing Game, Best Multiplayer Game, Best Action/Adventure Game, Best Game Direction, Best Art Direction and plenty more that games released in 2022 can compete in.

The show brings together game creators, esports athletes, digital influencers, fans and Hollywood for a night of awards, exclusive game world premieres and musical performances to celebrate the best in video games and preview what’s next. The Game Awards airs live and free across more than 40 digital video networks including Twitch, YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram Live, TikTok Live, and globally in countries including China and India.”

The Game Awards kicks off on 8 December 2022.
