The International 2019 Start Times For South Africans

The International 2019, the biggest esports tournament ever featuring a mind-blowing $32.5 million prize pool, is kicking off this coming Thursday, 15 August 2019. With roughly half a billion Rand at stake, the tournament boasts by far the biggest prize pool ever and you can already feel the electricity in the air. If you are like me, you won’t want to miss a single second of the action from the group stage matches all the way up to that final GG. That’s why The International 2019 start times for South Africans are of the utmost importance to local fans.

The group stage kicks things off on 15 August and runs until 18 August. The first match of each day will start at 03:00 South African time, so you can set those alarms, call in sick, or do anything you have to do.

At the time of writing, the groups have not been drawn yet, so we don’t know which teams will face each other in the first round of matches. However, with The International 2019 start times, you can now plan your day, get that coffee ready and witness the best Dota 2 teams in the world fight it out.

Expect the same general start time for the main event (it could be a hour earlier or later), which will take place at the Mercedes Benz Stadium in Shanghai, China from 20 to 25 August. Last year, with the International 2018 taking place in Canada, it was a bit tough for us South Africans, as I remember the group stage and main event matches running from 18:00 to 05:00 or even later the next morning.

Since we will see the matches start at 03:00 in the morning, expect the final matches of each day (including the grand final) to finish up at a relatively decent time in the afternoon.
