Kia has released the first look at its new EV6 electric car ahead of its full unveiling later this month. The company began teasing snippets of the car last week so the new images mark the first full look at the new sporty electric vehicle.
According to Kia design chief Karum Habib, the EV6 marks a new step for the company when it comes to its design philosophy. In a new video, Habib explains that the philosophy is compromised of five pillars: “Bold for Nature,” “Joy for Reason,” “Power to Progress,” “Technology for Life,” and “Tension for Serenity.”

The Kia EV6 marks the first dedicated electric vehicle from the company. Habib says that Kia aimed to create a distinctive, impactful design by using a combination of sophisticated, high-tech features on pure and rich volumes while providing a unique space as a futuristic electric vehicle.
Unlike the Kia Niro, which is a gas/electric hybrid, the EV6 is a fully dedicated battery-electric car. It has been built around the parent company Hyundai’s new E-GMP platform.
“EV6, as the first dedicated Kia EV, is a showcase of human-centered, progressive design and electrified power. We strongly believe EV6 is a compelling and relevant model for the new EV market. With EV6 we aimed to create a distinctive, impactful design by using a combination of sophisticated, high-tech features on pure and rich volumes, while providing a unique space as a futuristic EV.”
Kia says they will fully showcase the EV6 later this month. While there’s no specific date announced yet, the unveiling should take place before the end of March 2021.
