Sony has struggled to keep The Last of Us Remake a secret for over a year now. We heard of the game’s existence last year when fans questioned why the company would assign Naughty Dog the development task of remaking the original game. Earlier this week we reported on the leaked release date and now, the game has been fully exposed online – trailer and all. The Last of Us Part I is its official title.
The Last of Us Part I is exactly what the name entails. A remake of the original game that has been fully developed from the ground up for the PS5 (and PC). While Sony has yet to announce the game, the PlayStation Direct Store leaked the listing, screenshots and a trailer.

According to the listing, The Last of Us Part I is set to launch on 2 September 2022 for PS5 with a PC release at a later date. The game includes the full single-player campaign from the original game, alongside the Left Behind DLC.
“Enjoy a total overhaul of the original experience, faithfully reproduced but incorporating modernized gameplay, improved controls and expanded accessibility options. Plus, feel immersed with improved effects and enhanced exploration and combat.”
The store also has a Firefly Edition up for pre-order but the page is not live yet. It costs $100 in comparison to the standard edition at $69. I am not sure what the extra cost will include. Perhaps it comes with a copy of The Last of Us Part II?
The game looks good. Considering the original release was on PS3, Naughty Dog has worked its magic here remaking the experience for PS5. You can definitely see this is no simple remaster. That was kept for the PS4 version “The Last of Us Remaster”. I can’t add the trailer to this post because it is hidden on the store site but you can watch it by visiting this link here.
