The Last of Us Series Gets Its Ellie and Joel

HBO has found both of its leads of the upcoming The Last of Us series. Deadline confirmed this morning that Game of Thrones star Bella Ramsey, known for her role as Lyanna Mormont will play Ellie. In addition, The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal, also known for his most recent role as Maxwell Lord in WW84 will play Joel.

The upcoming The Last of Us series is based off the popular video game franchise by Neil Druckmann and developed by Sony-owned studio Naughty Dog. The upcoming series is slowly taking shape now that it has its two lead roles. We also know that Beanpole director Kantemir Balagov will direct the pilot episode of the show.

The Last of Us series is being put together in partnership with Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin and series creator Neil Druckmann. The show takes places 20 years after the modern world is destroyed by a sickness known as the cordyceps virus. Joel tormented by his past trauma must explore pandemic-ravaged America while protecting Ellie who is the last hope for humanity.

There’s no release or expected film date for the series as of yet. HBO ordered the show max in March last year and it was only approved in November. HBO has yet to announce an expected premiere date for The Last of Us series. The show is in co-production with Sony Pictures Television, PlayStation Productions, Word Games, the Mighty Mint and Naughty Dog.

So there you have it. The Last of Us series will star Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie.
