HBO has announced a series adaption of the critically acclaimed The Last of Us video game series. The media house announced that Craig Mazin, the creator of the limited series Chernobyl will be heading up the project.The series will be written by writer and creative director Neil Druckmann.

According to The Hollywood reporter, Carolyn Strauss will also executive produce along with Evan Wells, president of Naughty Dog. The project is currently in co-production with PlayStation Productions and Sony Pictures Television. The Last of Us series will be the first TV show produced by PlayStation Productions.

Little is known about the show and its setting but HBO claims the series will cover the events from the original game which was created by Neil Druckmann and released back in 2013. If the show is a success, HBO may pick it up for another season in which it could follow the story of Part II which is releasing on 29 May 2020. Craig Mazin expressed his joy for series on Twitter saying;
