Ranking The Legend of Zelda Games From Worst to Best

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild Switch 2 Edition Doesn’t Include DLC

Nintendo has revealed that the Switch 2 edition of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild doesn’t come with the expansion pass, meaning players will have to purchase the DLC separately. This comes in light of some confusion surrounding the prices of Switch 2 games and the next-gen upgrades and editions that players might need to be aware of.

As revealed by IGN, the Switch 2 edition of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild, which first launched in early 2017 for the original Switch, will cost $70 but it won’t include the game’s expansion pass. Additionally, if you already own the DLC from the Switch 1 version, you can enjoy it on the Switch 2. Those who don’t want to spend an entire $70 to buy the game again can upgrade it to the next-gen version for $10, which comes with various improvements to visuals and performance.

However, if you’re a new customer looking to purchase The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild‘s Switch 2 edition for the first time, you’ll need to cough up an additional $20 for the DLC Expansion Pack on top of the $70 price to get the full experience. Nintendo confirmed this much, stating, “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition does not include The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Expansion Pass DLC. That DLC is available as a separate purchase.”

Basically, regardless if you’re buying it for the first time on Switch 2 or spent the money to get the next-gen experience from the previous generation, you’ll still end up paying $90 to play Breath of The Wild in its best, most complete form.

It’s worth noting that most publishers would release special editions of older games today which typically include the DLC to entice players to purchase the full package at a lower price point. The fact that we’re still being charged $90 to play all the contents of a game that released in 2017 – not just as a Switch exclusive but a Wii U title as well – makes this a pretty tough pill to swallow.

Nintendo lost me with the insane price hikes, the additional charge for physical, and the physical that not all games will actually have the game on the cartridge was all why I’m done with Nintendo. After owning every Nintendo system from NES as a kid right through to the Switch, this will be the first Nintendo system I refuse to buy.

Now I read this complete additional douchbaggery from Nintendo and glad I already decided not too because they’ve gone over the deep end, whoever’s in charge of these decisions is going to ruin Nintendo if they keep this up. It’s no longer the Nintendo I once loved.

Goodbye Nintendo, it was fun while it lasted.
