The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Release Date Revealed

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the official sequel to Breath of the Wild, has finally received a release date of 12 May 2023 for Nintendo Switch. The game’s new title was revealed during the recent Nintendo Direct event along with a new trailer and key art.

Tears of the Kingdom is the follow-up to 2017’s critically acclaimed Switch exclusive Breath of the Wild and continues the adventures of Link, this time in new realms that extend to the skies and beyond. Nintendo confirmed that the game will launch in May next year, giving fans plenty to look forward to.

The new trailer gives us a glimpse into some of the new locations we’ll be visiting, both on the ground and in the sky through some ruins and wonderful cities. Needless to say, it’s all quite gorgeous and will certainly be an exciting new journey in The Legend of Zelda franchise.

According to a recent press release, Tears of the Kingdom will take place not only in the lands of Hyrule, but in the skies to visit an expanded world. There will also be plenty of puzzle-solving, exploration and more that awaits. Link is also seen using a large glider, which could be the primary method that we use to traverse between the lands of Hyrule and the skies above.

Players won’t have to wait long as The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has a release date of 12 May 2023 exclusively for Nintendo Switch. In related news, the game was originally planned to launch sometime in 2022 but Nintendo chose to delay it into 2023 in order to give the team more time in development. In fact, Xbox once seemed to think that Nintendo would release the game much earlier, in 2020.
