The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom ROM Leaks Online 2 Weeks Early

Nintendo isn’t going to be happy about this one and I am sure the company is already taking drastic steps to prevent spoilers from its upcoming game appearing online. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has leaked online just under two weeks from launch. The ROM has also been dumped meaning Switch owners who turn to the life of piracy can now download it.

The leak is bigger than Nintendo could have anticipated. Instead of just some gameplay footage appearing online, the actual game file is around too which isn’t good at all. One player has even managed to stream the game on Twitch for around 30 minutes before Nintendo pulled down his channel.

There’s also been footage uploaded online showing The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom being played on a PC emulator using the ROM. I won’t share that on the site.

Another retail copy of the game went up on auction for $300 and was successfully sold. We don’t know who purchased the game but someone doesn’t spend $300 on a game to not share it.

It goes without saying that if you’re avoiding spoilers for the game, stay away from Reddit, Twitter and all other places where content could be uploaded. Nintendo will likely struggle to keep up with the leaks. Even if the company manages to remove videos, it doesn’t stop trolls from posting spoilers in threads.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is releasing on 12 May. It is likely Nintendo’s biggest launch in a few years. The company even crafted a stunning themed Nintendo Switch OLED console to celebrate the game. We unboxed it here. Or watch it below.
