The Lion King is one of everyone’s most beloved Disney films and especially here in SA as we have a strong connection to the story and setting, being in Africa and all. Disney teased us earlier this year with information on the upcoming live-action adaption of the 1994 masterpiece saying it would deliver the next generation of CG even more detailed and life-like than The Jungle Book.

The first teaser trailer released today to celebrate Thanksgiving and it is just everything you would ever expect from it. The epic opening tune “Circle of Life” by Tim Rice, fantastic cinematography and a gorgeous lion cub. The trailer is narrated by none other than James Earl Jones who plays King Mufasa in both the 1994 animation and in the upcoming live-action film.

The star-studded cast for the film included Beyonce Knowles as Nala, Donald Glover as Simba, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar and the fantastic James Earl Jones reprising his role of Mufasa. The trailer shows some iconic scenes from the original film that you will remember quite clearly. Simba’s iconic Pride Rock roar, the deadly stampede and of course the birth of Simba.

If the trailer is anything to go by, we are in for a spectacular experience when The Lion King opens in cinema worldwide next year on 19 July 2019. Take a look at the trailer below and keep your emotions in check.
