The Mandalorian and Grogu Star Wars Movie Jon Favreau Direct

The Mandalorian and Grogu Movie Announced – Jon Favreau to Direct

A new Star Wars movie has been announced and it’s not what anyone was expecting. Jon Favreau is set to direct The Mandalorian and Grogu, a movie that’s seemingly based on or continues the story established in The Mandalorian television series.

The Mandalorian and Grogu will officially go into production later this year with Jon Favreau, having already served as the producer and director of several episodes of the series, returning to direct the movie. It will also be produced by Kathleen Kennedy and Dave Filoni. Beyond that, we actually know very little about the movie, its plot or what this means for the television series.

Pedro Pascal will likely reprise his role as Mando in the movie and of course we’ll see a lot of Grogu, though it’s unclear if other cast members from the series will return for the big screen. The third season of the show did somewhat leave the door open for more story so we’ll see if the movie will continue (and likely resolve) the main plot or be its own self-contained adventure, though our money is on the former.

The Mandalorian follows the adventures of Mando (played by Pascal), a Mandalorian bounty hunter who forms a bond with a mysterious child named Grogu. Later we learn that Grogu has the ability to use the force and becomes the target of some unsavoury characters in the galaxy far, far away. Mando also gets swept up in an ongoing conflict on the planet of Mandalore. The show is quite different than your usual Star Wars space opera and we can’t wait to see where the movie takes us.
