The Matrix Resurrections New Poster Wachowski

The Matrix Resurrections Gets New Breathtaking Poster

The Matrix Resurrections, the fourth Matrix film from director Lana Wachowski, has received a brand new poster that reunites Neo and Trinity, along with the new cast of characters including a presumed younger Morpheus. The poster’s tagline asks us to “Return to the Source”, adding further mystery the film’s plot.

The Matrix Resurrections is set to release this December, and last month we got our first proper trailer. Like the mystery surrounding the original Matrix film, the trailer offers nothing concrete regarding its story. We know that both Neo and Trinity are somehow back, including a character played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II that many have theorized is a young Morpheus.

The Matrix Resurrections will have an all-star cast that includes Keanu Reeves reprising his role as Thomas Anderson/Neo, Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity, Abdul-Mateen II as Morpheus, Jada Pinkett Smith returning as Niobe, and Lambert Wilson reprising his role as the Merovingian. The new cast includes How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris, Mindhunter‘s Jonathan Groff, Christina Ricci, Love & Monsters‘ Jessica Henwick and Priyanka Chopra Jonas in an unconfirmed role.

The Wachowski’s completed their Matrix trilogy in 2003 with the back-to-back releases of Reloaded and Revolutions. The series has since gone quiet, and it’s been 18 years since the release of the last film. The Matrix Resurrections, however, promises to be a return to form. The trailer already gave us our biggest indication that it will retread several similar events of the first iconic film, though that begs the question how or why Neo and Trinity are still alive, and why there’s even a sequel to begin with.

These questions will likely be answered when The Matrix Resurrections releases on 22 December 2021 in cinemas and HBO Max.
