Bloober Team has announced that its psychological horror game, The Medium, will be turned into a TV show. Studio president Piotr Babieno cites the success of Arcane and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners as key influences in the studio’s decision to approach the television format for one of its properties.
The Medium originally launched in January 2021 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC, boasting its impressive dual-world feature in which players could control the main character through two locations simultaneously. How this mechanic – arguably the game’s most defining feature – will translate into a television format remains to be seen, though there’s plenty of potential here for an effectively creepy mystery to unfold on screen.

The Medium television series will be supervised by Tomasz Bagiński, who worked as an executive producer on Netflix’s The Witcher.
Babieno provided a lengthy statement on the company’s blog about The Medium TV show:
“The story we told in the game was appreciated by players, and now more people will be able to hear about it. The latest hits of streaming platforms based on games such as “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners” or “Arcane” have shown that this is the perfect time for such productions. Participation in the creative supervision of such an important figure in Polish cinematography as Tomasz Bagiński proves that we want to create something truly amazing. The whole team working on the concept of the series felt they were working on something special, we hope that this enthusiasm will be visible in the quality of the series.”
In related news, Bloober Team is rumoured to be working in partnership with Konami on a remake of Silent Hill 2. Reports first circulated when the companies announced the partnership, though it was originally believed that the Polish studio was developing an original new entry in the franchise at the time. Konami is reportedly planning a multi-entry revival of Silent Hill, not just at Bloober Team but supposedly Annapurna Interactive and an unnamed Japanese studio as well.
The Medium is currently available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
