Milla Jovovich is back and this time she is fighting monsters instead of zombies (although a Resident Evil x Monster Hunter cross over would be pretty cool). The official trailer for the Monster Hunter movie dropped last night and it looks okay. Of course, this is a movie based on a video game so don’t expect an oscar-winning experience here by any means.

From what we gather, Milla and her team get transported to an alternate universe where these giant monsters live and rule. Upon arrival, they realize their weapons and military ammunition does not work against these massive creatures and set off to find another way to take them down. This is most likely how they come into contact with the dual daggers and great sword which we also see in the trailer.
The Monster Hunter movie is directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, the man behind the Resident Evil movie series. The film looks quite step away from the Capcom video game series, it does have some of the iconic monsters from the game. This includes Rathalos, and Diablos. I’m sure there will be other surprises that await in the film too.
The official synopsis reads;
[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”#F9FF33″ class=”” size=”21″]Behind our world, there is another: a world of dangerous and powerful monsters that rule their domain with deadly ferocity. When an unexpected sandstorm transports Captain Artemis (Milla Jovovich) and her unit (TI Harris, Meagan Good, Diego Boneta) to a new world, the soldiers are shocked to discover that this hostile and unknown environment is home to enormous and terrifying monsters immune to their firepower.
In their desperate battle for survival, the unit encounters the mysterious Hunter (Tony Jaa), whose unique skills allow him to stay one step ahead of the powerful creatures. As Artemis and Hunter slowly build trust, she discovers that he is part of a team led by the Admiral (Ron Perlman). Facing a danger so great it could threaten to destroy their world, the brave warriors combine their unique abilities to band together for the ultimate showdown.[/perfectpullquote]
