Hisense is gearing up to launch its own version of Samsung’s Frame TV. The CanvasTV is Hisense’s take on the matte screen electronic art portrait. The TV features a 4K 144hZ QLED packed into an anti-glare screen with a wooden teak frame. The idea is that this TV is meant to double up as a normal television while at the same time, offering a static artwork in your home.
Samsung has owned the art display market for a few years now. I remember reviewing the original Samsung Frame TV back in 2021 and the company has improved on its later models with new display tech. Hisense has now entered the chat with the CanvasTV. The display aims to be cheaper than the Frame with a 65-inch costing only $1,299 and a 55-inch $999.
The South African market is expected to get the Hisense CanvasTV sometime later this year. However, pricing and the exact release date are still unclear.
The Hisense CanvasTV comes in various styles. There’s a wooden teak frame, a walnut frame and a safer, all-white frame option. You can also change the frames out and purchase each style separately.
The Art Mode cycles through pre-loaded paintings Hisense installs on the unit. The mode ranges from Renaissance, modern, and abstract styles. Users can also install their own photographs and images.
The TV also has a low-power mode that turns off the display when no one is around to “admire” the artwork. This sensor detects when there’s no one looking at the TV and powers it down to save energy.
The biggest selling point of the Hisense CanvasTV is likely its price tag. The 65-inch is $700 cheaper than Samsung’s Frame TV while the 55-inch is $500 cheaper. That’s a big saving.
Of course, Hisense has been quite competitive in the market so these prices are expected. In South Africa, the TV lineup includes almost the same experience as Samsung’s Neo QLED but at a fraction of the price. The same can likely be said for the upcoming CanvasTV.
