The Next Batch of Apple Intelligence Features Are Now Available

Apple has rolled out iOS 18.2 and other new operating system updates across iPadOS, WatchOS, and macOS. The latest update adds the next batch of Apple Intelligence features to supported platforms as Apple continues its snail-paced rollout of AI.

The new Apple Intelligence features include ChatGPT integration on iPhone, iPad, and macOS. Users will now be able to link their ChatGPT account to their device (or not) and initiate chats with Siri, which can then be escalated to ChatGPT for further assistance.

Image Playground is also available. This new AI generative app lets users create images using existing camera roll content or simply by typing in words. You can choose between cartoon or stylistic photos. The app is available as a standalone experience on supported devices and integrated into Messages, Freeform, Keynote, and other apps.

Genmoji is also new. It lets you create emoji images which are then used as stickers across supported apps. You can find this in all keyboard-supported apps. Lastly, Image Wand is a new drawing feature where users can transform rough sketches into fully-fledged drawings.

The iPhone 16 range gets its own exclusive AI feature called Visual Intelligence. By holding down the Camera Button, you can automatically search the web for the item in the camera view. You can then ask ChatGPT various questions about it. I scanned my basil plant and asked ChatGPT what plant it was and how to look after it. It was quite a smooth experience.

You can now initiate updates across all supported Apple devices. On Mac, you’ll need an “M” device to add these new Apple Intelligence features to the product. The same is true for iPad devices. Only iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 16 range support the new AI features.

Apple is expected to release yet another beta soon with the next batch of Apple Intelligence tools. This update will include app Siri integration. Here, Siri will be able to perform tasks, search apps, and interact with information all by simple commands.
