The Next Hideo Kojima Game Will Star Elle Fanning

Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions have been teasing a new proejct over the past few days, often dropping cryptic clues and shadowy posters. One previously released poster showed the silhouette of a figure’s face with the caption “Where Am I?”, though fans quickly deduced that the hidden figure was actress Elle Fanning. Kojima has now confirmed that the fans were correct as Fanning is now seemingly starring in his next mysterious game.

The poster was revealed at PAX Australia recently, with many speculating that it could be related to the leaked horror project, Overdose. Fans in attendance at the event scanned a QR code that then led them to a website linked with Kojima Productions. Though no title is mentioned, it’s simply listed as “A Hideo Kojima Game.” The website officially revealed that Elle Fanning was the face behind the teaser poster too.

Fanning previously appeared in the Nicolas Winding Refn film The Neon Demon, which isn’t a coincidence as Refn and Kojima are quite close friends. Refn also appeared as the character Heartman in Death Stranding. She also had roles in films like Super 8 and The Nightingale. Fanning now joins a list of celebrity talents that Kojima has worked with alongside Kiefer Sutherland, Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen and more.

Kojima’s next game is a pretty big mystery at this point. It’s hard to say if this might be related to the horror project Overdose which leaked earlier this year, or if it could be connected to a rumoured, unannounced VR game. The nature of the posters suggests that it probably isn’t Death Stranding 2, though we can’t exactly rule that out yet.

We’ll know more about the project in the coming months as Kojima might appear at The Game Awards (hosted by friend Geoff Keighley) in December to make the grand unveiling. Kojima previously took Death Stranding to The Game Awards on a couple of occassions.
