It is no secret by now that Crystal Dynamics will announce a new Tomb Raider game soon. The series is not only celebrating its 25th anniversary this year but communication and community manager Meagan Marie has already confirmed the news by spilling the beans on the next Lara Croft.
In an interview with the Official PlayStation Magazine, Meagan stated that the next Tomb Raider game will allow fans the ability to know a Lara Croft that has “grown and evolved as a character as we all do throughout our lives.”.

What this means is that there’s a high chance the Lara Croft that will star in the next Tomb Raider game is going to be an adult and her personality and appearance may shift closer to the original character we met all those years ago.
Marie says that Lara Croft is canon and while fans have aged since her debut, she has too. In the interview, she says that it was important for Crystal Dynamics to move in this direction but at the same time, the studio worked on both major and minor changes to provide all fans something to look forward to in the next Tomb Raider game while retaining the original concept.
“It is impossible to make changes or update a beloved character and franchise in a way that will please everyone. If too much remains the same, then the game has failed to innovate or be relevant for new audiences. If there isn’t enough DNA from the original games, then you’ve lost sight of what made the franchise great.”
Crystal Dynamics is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Tomb Raider series this year with loads of new content coming our way. We have the confirmed new video game entry which will see the so-called “grown and evolved Lara” return. In addition, fans can also look forward to the Netflix anime that picks up after the events of Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
The big question now is when and where is the next Tomb Raider game set?
