A new timed event is currently underway in The Outlast Trials. Called The Ticking Time Bomb Challenge, the event sees a new program added to the stage selection in the form of Program Countdown. It straps a bomb to each player forcing them to search for time extenders while participating in the normal level Trial.
The bomb is forever ticking down and if time runs out, the entire team dies as a result. The only way to survive is to find these time extenders to keep the clock time running while you complete the Trial.
The event is currently available now in The Outlast Trials for all players. With it, you’ll also be able to purchase cosmetics from a limited-timed Countdown Catalogue. The Catalogue includes outfits, cell props, posters and player icons. The event comes with its own set of challenges to complete for currency which you can use to unlock items from any catalogue.
Currently, Part 1 of the event is live across select Trials. On 24 September, Part 2 goes live adding more Trials to participate in while fighting for time.
In addition to the new event, Red Barrels has also released a patch to further improve the game through tweaks, bug fixes, new animations, tweaked Amp Abilities and more.
The Outlast Trials was launched in March this year and is likely one of my favourite games of the year. Read my review here.
It follows players across a series of Trials which put their wits to the test. The grotesque Trials are uncomfortable to play and follow the traditional Outlast tradition. Players also need to stay alive while avoiding killers and traps.
If you haven’t picked up The Outlast Trials yet, the game is currently on sale for 33% less on PS5 and PC.
