The Rogue Prince of Persia Ditches That Weird Purple Prince Character

Evil Empire is giving The Rogue Prince of Persia a much-needed glow-up. Up to now, the rogue-lite game featured a questionable art style with purple-skinned people and a washed-out environment. It is something you could get used to for sure but even during my review, I found the whole colour pallet off-putting.

Thankfully, that is all changing. Evil Empire has revealed a visually-evolved new version of The Rogue Prince of Persia with revamped assets. The new visuals are strikingly different. Gone are the overexposed backgrounds and purple-skinned characters. Now, the game looks a lot better.

The Prince doesn’t look like he has purple jaundice and the entire game’s art adds more detail to the environments than before. The visual change will arrive in the new update called The Second Act on 21 November. It also brings new content to the game in the form of new biomes, weapons, enemies and abilities.

Keep in mind that The Rogue Prince of Persia is still in early access so this visual change is expected. The game’s content updates have been arriving every month or so as it grows in scale. I will definitely jump back into the game later this month to test the update out. During my early access review, I enjoyed the game but felt as if there were no ways to build the Prince into a certain playstyle. That has been fixed now according to Evil Empire.

The Rogue Prince of Persia is out on PC now with a console release planned for sometime in the future. Grab it on Steam here.
