The Sims 5 Hacked Pirated EA Games

The Sims Movie Moving Forward at Amazon – Margot Robbie to Produce

The Sims movie is apparently now moving forward at Amazon MGM with Margot Robbie set to produce. According to a new report, there was a bidding war with Amazon and Netflix for the rights to the movie that ended up swinging in Amazon’s favour.

Per Puck, The Sims movie’s stakeholders eventually settled on Amazon MGM in a bidding war. Netflix apparently offered more money but the producers preferred Amazon’s idea of a theatrical release first before hitting any streaming services. As far as we know, it will be produced by LuckyChap Entertainment which is run by actress and producer Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley, Sophia Kerr and Josie McNamara.

The Sims could be a pretty difficult video game to adapt into a movie as the gameplay doesn’t exactly tell a cohesive story, instead giving players the freedom to carve out their own story, create their ideal characters and build a home in its simulation. If the success of Barbie – another property which was thought to be impossible to adapt – proves anything, it’s that Robbie definitely has some knowledge about being involved in franchises that are quite difficult to adapt but succeed in the end.

In related news, Electronic Arts is hard at work on The Sims 5. The publisher previously confirmed that the fifth major entry in the gaming series would be free-to-play at launch, though no release date has been announced yet. The Sims 4 also managed to reach over 70 million players, so the cultural impact of the video games is large enough to extend to adaptations in other mediums.

On the weirder side of the news, speedrunners previously set a new world record for The Sims 4 in a category called sex speedruns. This involves the player trying to make a “WooHoo” happen in the fastest time possible.

We’ll keep you updated on developments about The Sims movie.
