The Sinking Ciry Remastered

The Sinking City Remastered Gets a Surprise Release

Frogwares has announced and released a remaster of Sinking City. The announcement really came out of nowhere and was quite unexpected. Best of all, if you own the re-released 2021 version of the game, this remaster is also free.

According to the studio, The Sinking City Remastered has been reworked in Unreal Engine 5 to provide various visual improvements to the game. The engine has allowed the team to implement completely rebuilt lighting systems that change the overall visual presentation of the game.

The Sinking City Remastered also includes some brushed-up locations with improved item density and detail on various game assets. Textures have also been enhanced to 4K and water reflections now have improved visuals.

The game has also been tweaked with modern-day upscaling techniques including DLSS, FSR, and TSR. So PC gamers have boosted game performance using this tech.

The trailer showcases these changes and, to be honest, it looks really good. The lighting system alone is a massive change to the experience, with some locations being completely overhauled.

If you own The Sinking City already, you’ll be able to grab The Sinking City Remastered for free. The game is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. There’s also a 50% sale going on at the moment that has discounted the remastered game for those who don’t own it.

Frogwares is hard at work building The Sinking City 2, a sequel to the original game that was recently announced after a successful Kickstarter campaign. The studio is determined to grow the IP even further, saying:

We plan to do big things with The Sinking City IP, starting with the sequel and then beyond. So, after our rather well-known struggles with the original, it feels amazing to have this positive moment be part of the game’s twisted history and for us to be the ones to fully decide it. Making it free to all our existing fans is our way of giving back to them for having supported us all this time through thick and thin.
